Brighton Fashion Week 2012 - Zeitgeist
I shot the Zeitgeist show for Pretty Litter Mag last night. My first fashion show, it was Christmas for me, I was excited to be shooting something new. All the photographers in the pit were well behaved and helping each other, not always the case when everyone’s fighting to get the best shots, as time wasted is a shot lost. Get comfortable, get there early, get a good spot on the same level as the models.
It was a different kind of theatre for me, as it was live you could feel the rush of the audience and the photographers when they loved a designer. Your fascination goes wild when the pieces come alive and your shutter goes crazy and the piece is gone so soon. On the right model, they will sing, lots of respect to the models that have the confidence to walk & showcase in a circus situation, those that can, shine with the fun that they are having.
So do the photographs.
The last designer put on the best show, video intro, lights changed, models were more choreographed. This was more cinematic. Jess Eaton showcased here last year and since then everyone has known who she is and what she does. Pretty Litter dedicated a 3 page spread + a striking front cover to her.
Her attitude and designs are fierce + fun.
Taking roadside offerings of dead animals and re-incarnating them into fashion pieces, via the taxidermy she learnt as a child, she gives death more respect by making the animals live again. More interesting than the usually couture way of buying overpriced feathers from suppliers, her suppliers are the public who donate their findings to her shop.
