Clothes & Styling: Emily Durant

Model: Anya Zebags,   anyazebregs@hotmail.com

Hair & MUA: Patricia Bella

Proportion & Tailoring is Emily’s first collection and also her final piece for her Master of Design degree at Brighton University.

Her inspiration was 90’s fashion, when models were more androgynous and clothes played with being over or under sized. Emily wanted a blank urban look to her photos, not too stylized, so I offered her the large textured concrete walls at Brighton Marina.

Anya is a new model, from Amsterdam, who was easy to work with and offered a fierce confidence in her looks.

My challenge this time was to rely on poses and the look of the model and not the lighting. I decided not to bring any lights with me on location and to concentrate on a natural look.

The Importance Of Ma is the lookbook I shot for Olivia for her final piece at Brighton University. Inspired by the minimalist Japanese design, Ma.

Olivia’s designs are elegant and were a pleasure to light, the shoot was more like still life photography, as her clothes were about shape.  There was simplicity in the pallet and symmetry in the shape, this was reflected in the lighting, I only used 1 lamp,  there was no need to complicate the shoot, the clothes and poses needed nothing to distract from them.

The graduate shows are on til Wed 14th. Olivia’s designs, materials and the wonderfully mounted photography and book can be found on the 2nd floor. More info http://bit.ly/L57sBK
